I was browsing YouTube for videos when I stumbled upon this I ♥ NY Type in Motion Video by John Militar - which is genius for a number of reasons and therefore makes it as my design pick #11.
I love the simplicity of it in that only one font (Swiss 721 I believe) is used to convey the message with the addition of images here and there. The section in the video about Time Square – that features the words “Yellow Cabs and Taxi” in yellow and Cars in grey moving in opposite directions horizontally – speaks volumes. It illustrates the chaos that is New York streets – the only thing is there is probably more taxi cabs to cars!
Comment from John Militar on YouTube “Everyone and everything is always moving about in NY City. The clip takes you through the city blocks. It is an exploration both of type and motion to illustrate a bit of the New York experience and the New York vibe. It is a summation of my personal and first trip to the city. Thanks for watching! Done in Flash CS3″
