all about typography – fonts, fonts, fonts! type faces, families, ligatures, kerning, ascenders, descenders {the anatomy of a font} what font for which project for who?

Something I absolutely love changing on my computer weekly – sometimes daily – sometimes monthly – is my wallpaper.

You end up spending hours behind the computer – why not pick beautifully designed wallpapers that a) make you smile or b) provide inspiration or c) are simply nice to look at. I usually go for stunning photographs, imagery that is serene and gorgeous to look at – evokes emotions – however being a graphic designer, i went on a whole new mission! I embarked on a www hunt to find typography inspired wallpapers. My favorite one which featured on my desktop for quite some time, is “Type Tray” available for download from veer.com

At first it looked like a beautiful display of characters but looking closely I found it mimicked a keyboard – my first clue being seeing “Qwerty” stand out! I then noticed the f1, f2 etc on the top left, the return on the right, ctrl on the bottom left and the order of the characters. Black type on a white background creates contrast, the typefaces used forming beautiful characters and the overall layout appealing to the eye.
